3 Operation
3.1 General
Bronkhorst High‐Tech instruments are designed in such a way that they will meet user process
requirements in the best possible way. Flow meters and controllers are powered from a dc power
sourcewithaminimalripple.Whenprovidingyourownpowersupplybesurethatvoltageandcurrent
ratingare
accordingtothespecificationsoftheinstrumentandfurthermorethatthesourceiscapable
ofdelivering enoughenergytotheinstrument.Cablewirediameters shouldbe sufficient tocarry the
supplycurrentandvoltagelossesmustbekeptaslowaspossible.
3.2 Power and warm-up
Before switching on the power, be sure all connections have been made according to the hook‐up
diagramin2.7.Checkgasconnectionsandmakesurethereisnoleakage.Ifneededpurgethesystem
withapropergas.Turnonpowerandallowatleast30minutesforwarmingup
andstabilizing.During
thewarm‐upperiod,gaspressuremayeitherbeonoroff.
3.3 Setting up the instrument
Afterpoweringon,thefirsttime,theinstrumentwillaskwhichgasisusedandwhichflowrangeistobe
used(seepicturebelow).
Navigatetothefluidnameusingthe4‐waybutton(upanddowndirection)andpressinthecentreto
makeaselection,thenselecttherange
usingtheupanddowndirectionandpressalsointhecentreto
maketheselection.
Afterselectingthefluidandtherange,thecommunicationtypecanbeselected.
Thesettingswillbestoredwhenthe“save”buttonispressed.
Then turn on gas supply gently. Avoid pressure
shocks, and bring the instrument gradually up to the
leveloftheactualoperatingconditions.Alsoswitchoffgassupplygently.

is designed in such a way that for a change in therange or gas, you simplyselect
anotheravailablerangeorgasinthemenu.
Afterenteringthedefaultpassword(whichis‘abc’)inthesecuritymenu,allmenu’scanbeenabledor
disabled.Alsoanewpasswordcanbeenteredandsaved.
